- And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him.
- Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.
- Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.
- He saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit.
- Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later.
- We should help others do what is right and build them up in the Lord.
- So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.
- Then I heard the Lord asking, “Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?”
I said, “Here I am. Send me.” - This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.
- Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death?
- So Christ has truly set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don’t get tied up again in slavery to the law.
- We know what real love is because Jesus gave up his life for us. So we also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters.
- For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever!
- Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.
- God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him.
- Praise the Lord; praise God our savior!
For each day he carries us in his arms. - Once again you will have compassion on us.
You will trample our sins under your feet
and throw them into the depths of the ocean! - We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love.
God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them. - So let us do our best to enter that rest. But if we disobey God, as the people of Israel did, we will fall.
- Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God.
- Until at last the Spirit is poured out
on us from heaven.
Then the wilderness will become a fertile field,
and the fertile field will yield bountiful crops. - For the Lord gave us this command when he said,
‘I have made you a light to the Gentiles,
to bring salvation to the farthest corners of the earth.’ - So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.
- All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ.
- Or have you forgotten that when we were joined with Christ Jesus in baptism, we joined him in his death?
