- How much better to get wisdom than gold!
To get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver. - Take good care to observe the commandment and instruction that Moses the servant of the Lord commanded you, to love the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, to keep his commandments, and to hold fast to him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.
- There is one lawgiver and judge who is able to save and to destroy. So who, then, are you to judge your neighbor?
- The spirit of the Lord God is upon me,
because the Lord has anointed me;
he has sent me to bring good news to the oppressed,
to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives,
and release to the prisoners. - For he will repay according to each one's deeds.

- And steadfast love belongs to you, O Lord.
For you repay to all
according to their work. - Pleasant words are like a honeycomb,
sweetness to the soul and health to the body. - See, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn him to death; then they will hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified; and on the third day he will be raised.
- To do righteousness and justice
is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice. - For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of yourself more highly than you ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned.
- Do not wear yourself out to get rich;
be wise enough to desist. - It is a snare for one to say rashly, “It is holy,”
and begin to reflect only after making a vow. - Do not swerve to the right or to the left;
turn your foot away from evil. - Consequently he is able for all time to save those who approach God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them.
- He has told you, O mortal, what is good;
and what does the Lord require of you
but to do justice, and to love kindness,
and to walk humbly with your God? - Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due,
when it is in your power to do it. - Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to your name give glory,
for the sake of your steadfast love and your faithfulness. - He gives power to the faint,
and strengthens the powerless. - Is not this the fast that I choose:
to loose the bonds of injustice,
to undo the thongs of the yoke,
to let the oppressed go free,
and to break every yoke? - Turn my heart to your decrees,
and not to selfish gain. - Even though you intended to do harm to me, God intended it for good, in order to preserve a numerous people, as he is doing today.
- In everything do to others as you would have them do to you; for this is the law and the prophets.
- I know what it is to have little, and I know what it is to have plenty. In any and all circumstances I have learned the secret of being well-fed and of going hungry, of having plenty and of being in need.
