Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter. | Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my heavenly Father. |
Those who listen to instruction will prosper; those who trust the Lord will be joyful. | The one who pays heed to instruction prospers, and blessed is he who trusts in the Lord. |
Joyful are those who obey his laws and search for him with all their hearts. | Blessed are those who observe his statutes and seek him with their whole heart. |
But the one who endures to the end will be saved. | But whoever endures to the end will be saved. |
Those who control their tongue will have a long life; opening your mouth can ruin everything. | He who guards his mouth makes his life secure, but one who talks excessively ensures his own downfall. |
And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. | We know that God makes all things work together for good for those who love him and who are called according to his purpose. |
God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted. | Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. |
Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. | Everyone who hears these words of mine and acts in accordance with them will be like a wise man who constructed his house on a rock foundation. |
What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? | What then can we say in response to all this? If God is for us, who can be against us? |
John replied, “If you have two shirts, give one to the poor. If you have food, share it with those who are hungry.” | He said to them in reply, “Anyone who has two coats must share with the person who has none, and whoever has food must do likewise.” |
For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. | I can do all things in him who strengthens me. |
That’s why those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God. | Those who live according to the flesh can never be pleasing to God. |
The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! But we who are being saved know it is the very power of God. | Indeed, the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. |
But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! | But I say to you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. |
But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world. | Dear children, you are from God and you have conquered them, for the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. |
People who accept discipline are on the pathway to life, but those who ignore correction will go astray. | Whoever heeds admonition is on the path to life, but anyone who rejects correction goes astray. |
Bless those who persecute you. Don’t curse them; pray that God will bless them. | Bless those who persecute you; bless them and do not curse them. |
Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes. | Wait quietly for the Lord and be patient until he comes. Do not fret over the man who prospers because of his evil schemes. |
Don’t be afraid of those who want to kill your body; they cannot touch your soul. Fear only God, who can destroy both soul and body in hell. | Have no fear of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, fear the one who can destroy both soul and body in Gehenna. |
Praise the Lord; praise God our savior! For each day he carries us in his arms. | Blessed be the Lord, day after day, the God of our salvation, who carries our burden. Selah |
Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them. And I will love them and reveal myself to each of them. | Anyone who has received my commandments and observes them is the one who loves me. And whoever loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and reveal myself to him. |
To acquire wisdom is to love yourself; people who cherish understanding will prosper. | Whoever gains wisdom loves his own soul; one who cherishes understanding will prosper. |
But the Lord will redeem those who serve him. No one who takes refuge in him will be condemned. | The Lord redeems the lives of those who serve him; no one will be condemned who takes refuge in him. |
Give to anyone who asks; and when things are taken away from you, don’t try to get them back. | Give to everyone who begs from you, and do not demand the return of what is yours from the one who has taken it. |
Anyone who believes and is baptized will be saved. But anyone who refuses to believe will be condemned. | Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved; whoever does not believe will be condemned. |
