- Woe to you who strive with your Maker,
earthen vessels with the potter!
Does the clay say to the one who fashions it, “What are you making”?
or “Your work has no handles”? - If we say that we have fellowship with him while we are walking in darkness, we lie and do not do what is true.
- You are a hiding place for me;
you preserve me from trouble;
you surround me with glad cries of deliverance. Selah - Adulterers! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.
- Finally, brothers and sisters, farewell. Put things in order, listen to my appeal, agree with one another, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you.
- He will cover you with his pinions,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness is a shield and buckler. - He reveals deep and hidden things;
he knows what is in the darkness,
and light dwells with him. - You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
- Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, just as it is well with your soul.
- Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in all ways. The Lord be with all of you.
- May the God of steadfastness and encouragement grant you to live in harmony with one another, in accordance with Christ Jesus.
- You know that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your ancestors, not with perishable things like silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without defect or blemish.
- But God, who is rich in mercy, out of the great love with which he loved us even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ —by grace you have been saved—.
- Love one another with mutual affection; outdo one another in showing honor.
- May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
- The blessing of the Lord makes rich,
and he adds no sorrow with it. - The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with all of you.
- Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; teach and admonish one another in all wisdom; and with gratitude in your hearts sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God.
- Seek good and not evil,
that you may live;
and so the Lord, the God of hosts, will be with you,
just as you have said. - Then Jesus, crying with a loud voice, said, “Father, into your hands I commend my spirit.” Having said this, he breathed his last.
- But I with the voice of thanksgiving
will sacrifice to you;
what I have vowed I will pay.
Deliverance belongs to the Lord! - I will instruct you and teach you the way you should go;
I will counsel you with my eye upon you. - For the customs of the peoples are false:
a tree from the forest is cut down,
and worked with an ax by the hands of an artisan;
people deck it with silver and gold;
they fasten it with hammer and nails
so that it cannot move.
Their idols are like scarecrows in a cucumber field,
and they cannot speak;
they have to be carried,
for they cannot walk.
Do not be afraid of them,
for they cannot do evil,
nor is it in them to do good. - Shun youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.
- By day the Lord commands his steadfast love,
and at night his song is with me,
a prayer to the God of my life.
