- A gentle answer deflects anger,
but harsh words make tempers flare. - Wash yourselves and be clean!
Get your sins out of my sight.
Give up your evil ways. - When the Lord Jesus had finished talking with them, he was taken up into heaven and sat down in the place of honor at God’s right hand.
- When God raised up his servant, Jesus, he sent him first to you people of Israel, to bless you by turning each of you back from your sinful ways.
- So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.
- Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor.
- The high and lofty one who lives in eternity,
the Holy One, says this:
“I live in the high and holy place
with those whose spirits are contrite and humble.
I restore the crushed spirit of the humble
and revive the courage of those with repentant hearts.” - Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else?

does my help come from there?
My help comes from the Lord,
who made heaven and earth! - “Listen,” he said, “we’re going up to Jerusalem, where the Son of Man will be betrayed to the leading priests and the teachers of religious law. They will sentence him to die. Then they will hand him over to the Romans to be mocked, flogged with a whip, and crucified. But on the third day he will be raised from the dead.”
- Jesus took the five loaves and two fish, looked up toward heaven, and blessed them. Then, breaking the loaves into pieces, he kept giving the bread and fish to the disciples so they could distribute it to the people. They all ate as much as they wanted, and afterward, the disciples picked up twelve baskets of leftovers!
- I cried out, “I am slipping!”
but your unfailing love, O Lord, supported me. - The Lord opens the eyes of the blind.
The Lord lifts up those who are weighed down.
The Lord loves the godly. - Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord.
- Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal.
- The Lord makes some poor and others rich;
he brings some down and lifts others up. - So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.
- You light a lamp for me.
The Lord, my God, lights up my darkness. - If you refuse to take up your cross and follow me, you are not worthy of being mine.
- Worry weighs a person down;
an encouraging word cheers a person up. - A cheerful heart is good medicine,
but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength. - Your unfailing love is better than life itself;
how I praise you!
I will praise you as long as I live,
lifting up my hands to you in prayer. - How great is the goodness
you have stored up for those who fear you.
You lavish it on those who come to you for protection,
blessing them before the watching world. - Don’t be afraid, for I am with you.
Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you.
I will hold you up with my victorious right hand. - Don’t team up with those who are unbelievers. How can righteousness be a partner with wickedness? How can light live with darkness?
