Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever. But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ. Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty. And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. For we walk by faith, not by sight. Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong. And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you. And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity. This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. Behold, God is mine helper: the Lord is with them that uphold my soul. The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ. And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.
We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath. Next verse! With image
