- Teach me to do your will,
for you are my God.
Let your gracious Spirit lead me
along a level path. - Those who live according to the flesh fix their attention on the things of the flesh, while those who live according to the Spirit set their thoughts on spiritual things.
- Let my teaching fall down like rain,
and my words descend like the dew.
Like rain upon the sprouts,
and like showers upon the grass. - In God, whose word I praise,
in God I place my trust and know no fear;
what can people do to me? - Turn away from youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, together with those who call on the Lord with a pure heart.
- With the Lord to protect me I am not afraid.
What can mortals do to me? - Examine me, O God, and know my heart;
test me and understand my thoughts.
See if I follow an evil way,
and guide me on the way to eternity. - Blessings are showered on the head of the righteous,
but sorrow will cover the face of the wicked. - Protect me, O God,
for in you I take refuge. - They shall be mine,
says the Lord of hosts,
my own special possession
on the day when I act,
and I will have compassion on them
as a father has compassion
on the son who serves him. - He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live in righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.
- My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit;
a contrite and humble heart, O God,
you will not spurn. - Let your eyes look straight ahead;
fix your gaze on what lies before you. - On the last and greatest day of the feast, Jesus stood up and cried out,
“If anyone is thirsty,
let him come to me and drink.” - No one after lighting a lamp covers it with a pot or places it under a bed. Rather he places it on a lampstand so that those who enter may see the light.
- No one has ever seen God,
but if we love one another,
God abides in us,
and his love is made complete in us. - Though he was in the form of God,
he did not regard equality with God
as something to be grasped.
Rather, he emptied himself,
taking the form of a slave,
being born in human likeness.
Being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself,
and became obedient to death,
even death on a cross. - Through faith you are all children of God in Christ Jesus. For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves in Christ.
- I will strengthen the house of Judah,
and I will save the house of Joseph.
I will bring them back
because I have taken pity on them,
and they will be
as though I had never cast them off;
for I am the Lord, their God,
and I will answer them. - If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person. For the temple of God is holy, and you are that temple.
- Jesus looked at them and said, “For men it is impossible, but not for God. For God all things are possible.”
- Blessed are the pure of heart, for they will see God.
- Through the grace that God has bestowed upon me, I advise every one of you not to think of yourself too highly, but to regard yourself objectively, based on the measure of faith that God has granted.
- If you are angry, do not sin. Do not let the sun set on your anger, and do not give the devil an opening.
- See what love
the Father has bestowed on us,
enabling us to be called the children of God,
and that is what we are.
If the world does not recognize us,
that is because it did not know him.
