- My child, be attentive to my words;
incline your ear to my sayings.
Do not let them escape from your sight;
keep them within your heart. - They will hunger no more, and thirst no more;
the sun will not strike them,
nor any scorching heat;
for the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd,
and he will guide them to springs of the water of life,
and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes. - I will sanctify my great name, which has been profaned among the nations, and which you have profaned among them; and the nations shall know that I am the Lord, says the Lord God, when through you I display my holiness before their eyes.
- And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying,
“See, the home of God is among mortals.
He will dwell with them as their God;
they will be his peoples,
and God himself will be with them;
he will wipe every tear from their eyes.
Death will be no more;
mourning and crying and pain will be no more,
for the first things have passed away.” - Each of you must give as you have made up your mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
- In Hades, where he was being tormented, he looked up and saw Abraham far away with Lazarus by his side. He called out, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am in agony in these flames.’

your steadfast love, O Lord, held me up. - When he had said this, as they were watching, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight.
- Hatred stirs up strife,
but love covers all offenses. - Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, so that he may exalt you in due time.
- But you, beloved, build yourselves up on your most holy faith; pray in the Holy Spirit; keep yourselves in the love of God; look forward to the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life.
- Truly the eye of the Lord is on those who fear him,
on those who hope in his steadfast love. - And whoever does not take up the cross and follow me is not worthy of me.
- Then he said to them all, “If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.”
- He heals the brokenhearted,
and binds up their wounds. - And, fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
- When God raised up his servant, he sent him first to you, to bless you by turning each of you from your wicked ways.
- And now why do you delay? Get up, be baptized, and have your sins washed away, calling on his name.
- I treasure your word in my heart,
so that I may not sin against you. - Then he led them out as far as Bethany, and, lifting up his hands, he blessed them. While he was blessing them, he withdrew from them and was carried up into heaven.
- A soft answer turns away wrath,
but a harsh word stirs up anger. - He called the crowd with his disciples, and said to them, “If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.”
- Looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith, who for the sake of the joy that was set before him endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of God.
- For the whole law is summed up in a single commandment, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
- Because we look not at what can be seen but at what cannot be seen; for what can be seen is temporary, but what cannot be seen is eternal.
O how abundant is your goodness
that you have laid up for those who fear you,
and accomplished for those who take refuge in you,
in the sight of everyone!The human mind may devise many plans,
