- I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep:
for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety. - Be not wise in thine own eyes:
fear the Lord, and depart from evil.
It shall be health to thy navel,
and marrow to thy bones. - Hear my prayer, O Lord,
and give ear unto my cry;
hold not thy peace at my tears:
for I am a stranger with thee,
and a sojourner, as all my fathers were. - When goods increase, they are increased that eat them: and what good is there to the owners thereof, saving the beholding of them with their eyes?
- I cried unto him with my mouth,
and he was extolled with my tongue. - But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
- Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?
- Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification.
- For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
- For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive;
and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee. - Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour.
- Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, O Lord.
Lord, hear my voice:
let thine ears be attentive
to the voice of my supplications. - Riches profit not in the day of wrath:
but righteousness delivereth from death. - The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous,
and his ears are open unto their cry. - Learn to do well; seek judgment,
relieve the oppressed,
judge the fatherless,
plead for the widow. - Therefore I will look unto the Lord;
I will wait for the God of my salvation:
my God will hear me. - Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus.
- For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
- Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.
- Remove far from me vanity and lies:
give me neither poverty nor riches;
feed me with food convenient for me. - For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world.
- Ye shall not afflict any widow, or fatherless child. If thou afflict them in any wise, and they cry at all unto me, I will surely hear their cry; And my wrath shall wax hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.
- We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth.
- And therefore will the Lord wait,
that he may be gracious unto you,
and therefore will he be exalted,
that he may have mercy upon you:
for the Lord is a God of judgment:
blessed are all they that wait for him. - For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established; That is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me.
Commit thy way unto the Lord;
trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light,
and thy judgment as the noonday.Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.Next verse!With image
