Wisdom to help (2/4)

  • The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom:
and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
  • So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul:
when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward,
and thy expectation shall not be cut off.
  • The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom:
a good understanding have all they that do his commandments:
    his praise endureth for ever.
  • But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
  • Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.
  • O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!
  • Fear thou not; for I am with thee:
be not dismayed; for I am thy God:
    I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee;
yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
  • Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
  • That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him.
  • This also cometh forth from the Lord of hosts,
    which is wonderful in counsel,
    and excellent in working.
  • I thank thee, and praise thee, O thou God of my fathers,
who hast given me wisdom and might,
and hast made known unto me now what we desired of thee:
for thou hast now made known unto us the king's matter.
  • Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come: That Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light unto the people, and to the Gentiles.
  • In my distress I called upon the Lord,
    and cried unto my God:
he heard my voice out of his temple,
and my cry came before him, even into his ears.
  • And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
  • A friend loveth at all times,
and a brother is born for adversity.
  • For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ.
  • Why art thou cast down, O my soul?
and why art thou disquieted within me?
    hope thou in God:
for I shall yet praise him,
who is the health of my countenance, and my God.
  • Say not thou, What is the cause that the former days were better than these? for thou dost not enquire wisely concerning this.
  • Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation:
and thy right hand hath holden me up,
and thy gentleness hath made me great.
Thou hast enlarged my steps under me,
that my feet did not slip.
  • And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever.
  • Withhold not good from them to whom it is due,
when it is in the power of thine hand to do it.
  • Behold, God is mine helper:
the Lord is with them that uphold my soul.
  • The righteous cry, and the Lord heareth,
and delivereth them out of all their troubles.
    The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart;
and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
  • For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.
  • The law of the Lord is perfect,
    converting the soul:
the testimony of the Lord is sure,
    making wise the simple.

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep:
for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety.
