Chinese (traditional)The Sovereign Lord is my strength!
He makes me as surefooted as a deer,
able to tread upon the heights. And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for. Direct your children onto the right path,
and when they are older, they will not leave it. Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results. For who is God except the Lord?
Who but our God is a solid rock? The shepherds went back to their flocks, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen. It was just as the angel had told them. And while they were there, the time came for her baby to be born. She gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped him snugly in strips of cloth and laid him in a manger, because there was no lodging available for them. And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins. Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. The words of the godly are like sterling silver;
the heart of a fool is worthless. Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. No one is holy like the Lord!
There is no one besides you;
there is no Rock like our God. Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions. So you see, just as death came into the world through a man, now the resurrection from the dead has begun through another man. And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. In the same way, some think one day is more holy than another day, while others think every day is alike. You should each be fully convinced that whichever day you choose is acceptable. Let me now remind you, dear brothers and sisters, of the Good News I preached to you before. You welcomed it then, and you still stand firm in it. It is this Good News that saves you if you continue to believe the message I told you—unless, of course, you believed something that was never true in the first place. Never! Can a mother forget her nursing child?
Can she feel no love for the child she has borne?
But even if that were possible,
I would not forget you!
See, I have written your name on the palms of my hands.
Always in my mind is a picture of Jerusalem’s walls in ruins. When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners. Search me, O God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
Point out anything in me that offends you,
and lead me along the path of everlasting life. Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” Pay your taxes, too, for these same reasons. For government workers need to be paid. They are serving God in what they do. But when I am afraid,
I will put my trust in you. Either way, Christ’s love controls us. Since we believe that Christ died for all, we also believe that we have all died to our old life. He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them. For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. Others were given in exchange for you.
I traded their lives for yours
because you are precious to me.
You are honored, and I love you. For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God. And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful. Ask me and I will tell you remarkable secrets you do not know about things to come. For God wanted them to know that the riches and glory of Christ are for you Gentiles, too. And this is the secret: Christ lives in you. This gives you assurance of sharing his glory. So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. He is the one all the prophets testified about, saying that everyone who believes in him will have their sins forgiven through his name.
