Chinese (traditional)Go forth, then. Eat your bread with joy and drink your wine with a cheerful heart, for God long ago approved what you do. For:
“If anyone wishes to love life
and to experience good days,
he must restrain his tongue from evil
and his lips from deceitful speech.
He must turn away from evil and do good,
seek peace and pursue it.” Indeed, the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any two-edged sword, it pierces to the point where it divides soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and the intentions of the heart. My son, if your heart is wise,
then my heart will be glad. For so has the Lord commanded us to do, saying,
‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles
so that you may bring salvation
to the farthest corners of the earth.’ I write these things to you
who believe in the name of the Son of God
so that you may know
that you have eternal life. A fool is quick to show his anger,
but a prudent man ignores an insult. For the Son of Man has come to seek out and to save what was lost. For all have sinned and thereby are deprived of the glory of God, and all are justified by the gift of his grace that is given freely through the redemption in Christ Jesus. Whoever gains wisdom loves his own soul;
one who cherishes understanding will prosper. Whatever you ask in my name I will do,
so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. Do not be concerned about your life and what you will have to eat, or about your body and what you will wear. For life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing. I lifted up my voice in prayer to him;
his praise was on my tongue. Rather, seek the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. May the God of peace—who brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant— make you perfect in every respect so that you may do his will. And may he enable us to achieve what is pleasing to him through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen. Commit your way to the Lord;
place your trust in him, and he will act.
He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn,
and the justice of your cause, like the noonday. Whoever believes in me,
as Scripture has said,
‘Streams of living water
shall flow from within him.’ Thereupon the Lord restored the prosperity of Job after he had prayed for his friends, and he enriched him with twice as much as he had possessed before. Take delight in the Lord,
and he will grant you what your heart desires. Rather, revere Christ as Lord in your hearts.
Always be prepared to offer an explanation to anyone who asks you to justify the hope that is in you. However, do so with gentleness and respect. However, the Advocate, the Holy Spirit,
whom the Father will send in my name,
will teach you everything
and remind you of all
that I have said to you. I understand that man’s greatest happiness is to be glad and do well throughout his life. And when we eat and drink and find satisfaction in all our labors, this is a gift of God. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you waverers. But God is rich in his mercy, and because he had such great love for us, he brought us to life with Christ when we were already dead through sin—it is by grace that you have been saved. Teach me to do your will,
for you are my God.
Let your gracious Spirit lead me
along a level path. Jesus answered, “As it is written:
‘Man does not live by bread alone,
but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of God.’ ” Do not be conformed to the world, but be transformed by the renewal of your minds, so that you will be able to discern the will of God and to know what is good and acceptable and perfect. Many are the plans in a human mind,
but it is the purpose of the Lord that will prevail. But if you seek the Lord, your God, and you strive with all your heart and your soul, you will find him there. When the Advocate comes
whom I will send you from the Father,
the Spirit of truth who comes from the Father,
he will testify on my behalf. Be strong and courageous in your hearts,
all you who place your hope in the Lord. Then he said to them, “Go forth into the whole world and proclaim the gospel to all creation.” Peter answered, “Repent, and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ so that your sins may be forgiven, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”Next verse!With image
