Chinese (traditional)But test everything; hold fast to what is good; abstain from every form of evil. He alone is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress; I shall not be shaken. I have set my bow in the clouds, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his power. Do not let loyalty and faithfulness forsake you;
bind them around your neck,
write them on the tablet of your heart.
So you will find favor and good repute
in the sight of God and of people. Rejoice in hope, be patient in suffering, persevere in prayer. But let justice roll down like waters,
and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream. Lead me in your truth, and teach me,
for you are the God of my salvation;
for you I wait all day long. Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. For freedom Christ has set us free. Stand firm, therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery. Sing to God, sing praises to his name;
lift up a song to him who rides upon the clouds —
his name is the Lord—
be exultant before him.
Father of orphans and protector of widows
is God in his holy habitation. But those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength,
they shall mount up with wings like eagles,
they shall run and not be weary,
they shall walk and not faint. But I say to you that listen, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. Those who guard their mouths preserve their lives;
those who open wide their lips come to ruin. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who in every respect has been tested as we are, yet without sin. Now I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you be in agreement and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same purpose. I will extol you, my God and King,
and bless your name forever and ever. Because you are precious in my sight,
and honored, and I love you,
I give people in return for you,
nations in exchange for your life. You must understand this, my beloved: let everyone be quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to anger. Whoever is slow to anger has great understanding,
but one who has a hasty temper exalts folly. For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love. I have chosen the way of faithfulness;
I set your ordinances before me. For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts. Little children, let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action. The Lord is my strength and my shield;
in him my heart trusts;
so I am helped, and my heart exults,
and with my song I give thanks to him. Then everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. The heavens are telling the glory of God;
and the firmament proclaims his handiwork.
Day to day pours forth speech,
and night to night declares knowledge. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Do not be deceived; God is not mocked, for you reap whatever you sow.
