- In the beginning the Word already existed.
The Word was with God,
and the Word was God. - Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice!
- My victory and honor come from God alone.
He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me. - Honor your father and mother. Then you will live a long, full life in the land the Lord your God is giving you.
- “I am the Alpha and the Omega—the beginning and the end,” says the Lord God. “I am the one who is, who always was, and who is still to come—the Almighty One.”
- Just as you cannot understand the path of the wind or the mystery of a tiny baby growing in its mother’s womb, so you cannot understand the activity of God, who does all things.
- All honor and glory to God forever and ever! He is the eternal King, the unseen one who never dies; he alone is God. Amen.
- Understand, therefore, that the Lord your God is indeed God. He is the faithful God who keeps his covenant for a thousand generations and lavishes his unfailing love on those who love him and obey his commands.
- And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.
- Our help is from the Lord,
who made heaven and earth. - Search for the Lord and for his strength;
continually seek him. - For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith.
- So remember this and keep it firmly in mind: The Lord is God both in heaven and on earth, and there is no other.
- The Lord will work out his plans for my life—
for your faithful love, O Lord, endures forever.
Don’t abandon me, for you made me. - For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
- But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
- The one thing I ask of the Lord—
the thing I seek most—
is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,
delighting in the Lord’s perfections
and meditating in his Temple. - For,
There is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus. - The Lord of Heaven’s Armies is a wonderful teacher,
and he gives the farmer great wisdom. - Unless the Lord builds a house,
the work of the builders is wasted.
Unless the Lord protects a city,
guarding it with sentries will do no good. - But even as he spoke, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy. Listen to him.”
- Before the mountains were born,
before you gave birth to the earth and the world,
from beginning to end, you are God. - The name of the Lord is a strong fortress;
the godly run to him and are safe. - For who is God except the Lord?
Who but our God is a solid rock? - Who has done such mighty deeds,
summoning each new generation from the beginning of time?
It is I, the Lord, the First and the Last.
I alone am he.
