- Who has done such mighty deeds,
summoning each new generation from the beginning of time?
It is I, the Lord, the First and the Last.
I alone am he. - You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people.
- And the Lord will be king over all the earth. On that day there will be one Lord—his name alone will be worshiped.
- Be still, and know that I am God!
I will be honored by every nation.
I will be honored throughout the world. - Even strong young lions sometimes go hungry,
but those who trust in the Lord will lack no good thing. - Yes, God will bless us,
and people all over the world will fear him. - And this is the way to have eternal life—to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth.
- This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all.
- And every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father. - And God has given us his Spirit as proof that we live in him and he in us.
- A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.
- But the Lord watches over those who fear him,
those who rely on his unfailing love. - Oh, how great are God’s riches and wisdom and knowledge! How impossible it is for us to understand his decisions and his ways!
- You must faithfully keep all my commands by putting them into practice, for I am the Lord.
- Jesus told them, “This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the one he has sent.”
- As the deer longs for streams of water,
so I long for you, O God. - For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children.
- Those who obey God’s commandments remain in fellowship with him, and he with them. And we know he lives in us because the Spirit he gave us lives in us.
- But Lord, you remain the same forever!
Your throne continues from generation to generation. - God is not a man, so he does not lie.
He is not human, so he does not change his mind.
Has he ever spoken and failed to act?
Has he ever promised and not carried it through? - No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.
- But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets.
- Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other.
- “Can anyone hide from me in a secret place?
Am I not everywhere in all the heavens and earth?”
says the Lord. - So God created human beings in his own image.
In the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.
