- For us there is
one God, the Father,
from whom all things are
and for whom we exist,
and one Lord, Jesus Christ,
through whom all things are
and through whom we exist. - And this is the testimony:
God gave us eternal life,
and this life is in his Son. - If you know me,
then you will know my Father also.
From now on you do know him.
You have seen him. - This is how we know what love is:
he laid down his life for us,
and we in turn must be prepared
to lay down our lives for our brethren. - Then Jesus said to him,
“You have come to believe
because you have seen me.
Blessed are those who have not seen
and yet have come to believe.” - For even the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.
- Who indeed conquers the world
except the one who believes
that Jesus is the Son of God? - Then he said to them, “Go forth into the whole world and proclaim the gospel to all creation.”
- I will not leave you orphans;
I will come to you. - Therefore, accept one another for the glory of God, just as Christ has accepted you.
- For you are aware that you were ransomed from your futile way of life inherited from your ancestors not with perishable things like silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.
- If you keep my commandments,
you will remain in my love,
just as I have kept my Father’s commandments
and remain in his love. - As for you, my child, take strength from the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
- This is
‘the stone rejected by you, the builders,
that has become the cornerstone.’ - I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.
- You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’
and rightly so,
for that is what I am. - I write these things to you
who believe in the name of the Son of God
so that you may know
that you have eternal life. - While he was still speaking, suddenly a bright cloud cast a shadow over them. Then a voice from the cloud said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased. Listen to him.”
- Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace but a sword.
- Behold, I am coming soon, and I will bring with me my reward to repay everyone as his deeds deserve.
- If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, then the one who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit that dwells in you.
- We also know
that the Son of God has come
and given us understanding
so that we can know the one who is true.
And we are in the one who is true,
since we are in his Son Jesus Christ.
He is the true God and eternal life. - To anyone who is victorious, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, as I myself overcame and sat with my Father on his throne.
- But for that very reason I was treated mercifully, so that in me Jesus Christ might exhibit his inexhaustible patience, making me an example for those who would come to believe in him for eternal life.
- At the appointed time, while we were still helpless, Christ died for the ungodly.
