- For us there is
one God, the Father,
from whom all things are
and for whom we exist,
and one Lord, Jesus Christ,
through whom all things are
and through whom we exist. - If you know me,
then you will know my Father also.
From now on you do know him.
You have seen him. - But God is rich in his mercy, and because he had such great love for us, he brought us to life with Christ when we were already dead through sin—it is by grace that you have been saved.
- This is how we know what love is:
he laid down his life for us,
and we in turn must be prepared
to lay down our lives for our brethren. - Then Jesus said to him,
“You have come to believe
because you have seen me.
Blessed are those who have not seen
and yet have come to believe.” - For even the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.
- Then he said to them, “Go forth into the whole world and proclaim the gospel to all creation.”
- I will not leave you orphans;
I will come to you. - For you are aware that you were ransomed from your futile way of life inherited from your ancestors not with perishable things like silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.
- Therefore, accept one another for the glory of God, just as Christ has accepted you.
- Who indeed conquers the world
except the one who believes
that Jesus is the Son of God? - If you keep my commandments,
you will remain in my love,
just as I have kept my Father’s commandments
and remain in his love. - You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’
and rightly so,
for that is what I am. - This is
‘the stone rejected by you, the builders,
that has become the cornerstone.’ - As for you, my child, take strength from the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
- I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.
- I write these things to you
who believe in the name of the Son of God
so that you may know
that you have eternal life. - While he was still speaking, suddenly a bright cloud cast a shadow over them. Then a voice from the cloud said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased. Listen to him.”
- Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace but a sword.
- I have made your name known to them,
and I will make it known,
so that the love with which you loved me
may be in them, and I in them. - Blessed are you when people hate you and ostracize you, when they insult you and denounce your name as evil on account of the Son of Man.
- If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, then the one who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit that dwells in you.
- I press on toward the finishing line to win the heavenly prize to which God has called me in Christ Jesus.
- We also know
that the Son of God has come
and given us understanding
so that we can know the one who is true.
And we are in the one who is true,
since we are in his Son Jesus Christ.
He is the true God and eternal life. - If you abide in me
and my words abide in you,
you may ask for whatever you wish,
and it will be done for you.
