- A friend loveth at all times,
and a brother is born for adversity. - While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.
- Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth:
therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty. - Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
- Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
- I cried unto him with my mouth,
and he was extolled with my tongue. - Iron sharpeneth iron;
so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend. - The Lord is righteous in all his ways,
and holy in all his works. - Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
- So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
- Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
- Excellent speech becometh not a fool:
much less do lying lips a prince. - A merry heart doeth good like a medicine:
but a broken spirit drieth the bones. - And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
- Children's children are the crown of old men;
and the glory of children are their fathers. - Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
- And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
- Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed;
save me, and I shall be saved:
for thou art my praise. - From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
- He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction:
but he that refuseth reproof erreth. - He that covereth a transgression seeketh love;
but he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends. - I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.
- And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
- Learn to do well; seek judgment,
relieve the oppressed,
judge the fatherless,
plead for the widow. - And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent.
- And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
- And if a soul sin, and commit any of these things which are forbidden to be done by the commandments of the Lord; though he wist it not, yet is he guilty, and shall bear his iniquity.
- For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
- Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
- For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
- Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise:
and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding. - The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit:
a broken and a contrite heart,
O God, thou wilt not despise. - For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.
- If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.
- For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.
- And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
- Ye shall diligently keep the commandments of the Lord your God, and his testimonies, and his statutes, which he hath commanded thee.
- And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us:
and establish thou the work of our hands upon us;
yea, the work of our hands establish thou it. - For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
- And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.
- Ah Lord God! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee.
- That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him.
- But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
- But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. For not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth.
- Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
- Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.
- But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
- And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.
- A little that a righteous man hath
is better than the riches of many wicked.
For the arms of the wicked shall be broken:
but the Lord upholdeth the righteous. - And they shall be mine, saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.
