Chinese (traditional)- But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for see—I am bringing you good news of great joy for all the people.”
- If you will only obey the Lord your God, by diligently observing all his commandments that I am commanding you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth.
- So now, O Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you? Only to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the commandments of the Lord your God and his decrees that I am commanding you today, for your own well-being.
- Keep these words that I am commanding you today in your heart. Recite them to your children and talk about them when you are at home and when you are away, when you lie down and when you rise.
- For I am longing to see you so that I may share with you some spiritual gift to strengthen you— or rather so that we may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith, both yours and mine.
- I wait for the Lord, my soul waits,
and in his word I hope. - Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets; I have come not to abolish but to fulfill.
- Nevertheless I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.
- Though an army encamp against me,
my heart shall not fear;
though war rise up against me,
yet I will be confident. - I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another.
- Even before a word is on my tongue,
O Lord, you know it completely. - If you obey the commandments of the Lord your God that I am commanding you today, by loving the Lord your God, walking in his ways, and observing his commandments, decrees, and ordinances, then you shall live and become numerous, and the Lord your God will bless you in the land that you are entering to possess.
- For God alone my soul waits in silence,
for my hope is from him. - “All things are lawful,” but not all things are beneficial. “All things are lawful,” but not all things build up.
- With the Lord on my side I do not fear.
What can mortals do to me? - When I thought, “My foot is slipping,”
your steadfast love, O Lord, held me up. - “All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are beneficial. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be dominated by anything.
- Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and all that is within me,
bless his holy name. - Now the works of the flesh are obvious: fornication, impurity, licentiousness, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, anger, quarrels, dissensions, factions, envy, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these. I am warning you, as I warned you before: those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
- Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.
- I will greatly rejoice in the Lord,
my whole being shall exult in my God;
for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation,
he has covered me with the robe of righteousness,
as a bridegroom decks himself with a garland,
and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. - Who can hide in secret places so that I cannot see them? says the Lord. Do I not fill heaven and earth? says the Lord.
- Why are you cast down, O my soul,
and why are you disquieted within me?
Hope in God; for I shall again praise him,
my help and my God. - Let me hear of your steadfast love in the morning,
for in you I put my trust.
Teach me the way I should go,
for to you I lift up my soul. - Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid.
And all of us, with unveiled faces, seeing the glory of the Lord as though reflected in a mirror, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another; for this comes from the Lord, the Spirit. You are a hiding place for me;
you preserve me from trouble;
you surround me with glad cries of deliverance. SelahNext verse!With image
