- Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the reign of King Herod. About that time some wise men from eastern lands arrived in Jerusalem, asking, “Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw his star as it rose, and we have come to worship him.”
- For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.
- But I will send you the Advocate—the Spirit of truth. He will come to you from the Father and will testify all about me.

- Now this is what the Lord says to the family of Israel:
“Come back to me and live!” - Do not deprive each other of sexual relations, unless you both agree to refrain from sexual intimacy for a limited time so you can give yourselves more completely to prayer. Afterward, you should come together again so that Satan won’t be able to tempt you because of your lack of self-control.

I’ll share my heart with you
and make you wise. - So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.
- The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.
- Ask me and I will tell you remarkable secrets you do not know about things to come.
- Every word of God proves true.
He is a shield to all who come to him for protection. - This is how we know if they have the Spirit of God: If a person claiming to be a prophet acknowledges that Jesus Christ came in a real body, that person has the Spirit of God. But if someone claims to be a prophet and does not acknowledge the truth about Jesus, that person is not from God. Such a person has the spirit of the Antichrist, which you heard is coming into the world and indeed is already here.
- Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near.
- Soon I will die, going the way of everything on earth. Deep in your hearts you know that every promise of the Lord your God has come true. Not a single one has failed!
- The wise are glad to be instructed,
but babbling fools fall flat on their faces. - Then he said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me.”
- My victory and honor come from God alone.
He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me. - Enjoy prosperity while you can,
but when hard times strike, realize that both come from God.
Remember that nothing is certain in this life. - Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”
- O Lord, I have come to you for protection;
don’t let me be disgraced.
Save me, for you do what is right. - And when he comes, he will convict the world of its sin, and of God’s righteousness, and of the coming judgment.
- Now repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away.
- “Yes,” Jesus replied, “and I assure you that everyone who has given up house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or property, for my sake and for the Good News, will receive now in return a hundred times as many houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and property—along with persecution. And in the world to come that person will have eternal life.”
- The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.
- In the night I search for you;
in the morning I earnestly seek you.
For only when you come to judge the earth
will people learn what is right.
