For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. | For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. |
But godliness with contentment is great gain. | But godliness with contentment is great gain. |

What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? | For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? |
Turn my heart toward your statutes and not toward selfish gain. | Incline my heart unto thy testimonies, and not to covetousness. |
Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. | So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom. |
What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul? | For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? |
Pride brings a person low, but the lowly in spirit gain honor. | A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit. |
Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding. | Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding. |
Better a little with righteousness than much gain with injustice. | Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues without right. |
If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing. | And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing. |
Whoever loves money never has enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income. This too is meaningless. | He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also vanity. |
Do not wear yourself out to get rich; do not trust your own cleverness. | Labour not to be rich: cease from thine own wisdom. |
Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or turn away from them. | Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth. |

But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. | But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. |
Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. | Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart: So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man. |
It was not by their sword that they won the land, nor did their arm bring them victory; it was your right hand, your arm, and the light of your face, for you loved them. | For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favour unto them. |
Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ. | For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ. |
I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and will give them all these lands, and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed, because Abraham obeyed me and did everything I required of him, keeping my commands, my decrees and my instructions. | And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws. |
