- Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end.
- And it is a good thing to receive wealth from God and the good health to enjoy it. To enjoy your work and accept your lot in life—this is indeed a gift from God.
- Sing to the Lord, for he has done wonderful things.
Make known his praise around the world. - He has removed our sins as far from us
as the east is from the west. - For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son, who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins.
- To learn, you must love discipline;
it is stupid to hate correction. - And God has given us his Spirit as proof that we live in him and he in us.
- And this is what God has testified: He has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

to keep them from slipping. - Everyone enjoys a fitting reply;
it is wonderful to say the right thing at the right time! - For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.

- Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. For them the second death holds no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him a thousand years.
- A newly married man must not be drafted into the army or be given any other official responsibilities. He must be free to spend one year at home, bringing happiness to the wife he has married.
- Owe nothing to anyone—except for your obligation to love one another. If you love your neighbor, you will fulfill the requirements of God’s law.
- A person without self-control
is like a city with broken-down walls. - Jesus told them, “This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the one he has sent.”
- But you may wonder, ‘How will we know whether or not a prophecy is from the Lord?’ If the prophet speaks in the Lord’s name but his prediction does not happen or come true, you will know that the Lord did not give that message. That prophet has spoken without my authority and need not be feared.
- Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’
- What joy for the nation whose God is the Lord,
whose people he has chosen as his inheritance. - I live because of the living Father who sent me; in the same way, anyone who feeds on me will live because of me.
- No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us, and his love is brought to full expression in us.
- We are witnesses of these things and so is the Holy Spirit, who is given by God to those who obey him.
- There are “friends” who destroy each other,
but a real friend sticks closer than a brother. - The husband should fulfill his wife’s sexual needs, and the wife should fulfill her husband’s needs. The wife gives authority over her body to her husband, and the husband gives authority over his body to his wife.
