- We have happy memories of the godly,
but the name of a wicked person rots away. - As a face is reflected in water,
so the heart reflects the real person. - So just as sin ruled over all people and brought them to death, now God’s wonderful grace rules instead, giving us right standing with God and resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
- The godly are showered with blessings;
the words of the wicked conceal violent intentions. - Because one person disobeyed God, many became sinners. But because one other person obeyed God, many will be made righteous.
- Just as the rich rule the poor,
so the borrower is servant to the lender. - Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.
- He loves whatever is just and good;
the unfailing love of the Lord fills the earth. - With their words, the godless destroy their friends,
but knowledge will rescue the righteous. - Just say a simple, ‘Yes, I will,’ or ‘No, I won’t.’ Anything beyond this is from the evil one.
- The very essence of your words is truth;
all your just regulations will stand forever. - So there is a special rest still waiting for the people of God. For all who have entered into God’s rest have rested from their labors, just as God did after creating the world.
- Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good.
- Rejoice, O people of Zion!
Shout in triumph, O people of Jerusalem!
Look, your king is coming to you.
He is righteous and victorious,
yet he is humble, riding on a donkey—
riding on a donkey’s colt. - Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.
- We cannot imagine the power of the Almighty;
but even though he is just and righteous,
he does not destroy us. - But when you are arrested and stand trial, don’t worry in advance about what to say. Just say what God tells you at that time, for it is not you who will be speaking, but the Holy Spirit.
- The Lord is righteous in everything he does;
he is filled with kindness. - Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.”
- I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said.
- First, help me never to tell a lie.
Second, give me neither poverty nor riches!
Give me just enough to satisfy my needs. - So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.
- For the Lord loves justice,
and he will never abandon the godly.
He will keep them safe forever,
but the children of the wicked will die. - For just as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so my ways are higher than your ways
and my thoughts higher than your thoughts. - This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you.
