| But when you give alms, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. Your almsgiving must be done in secret. | Above all, my brethren, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth, or use any oaths at all. | The one who eats everything must not look contemptuously on the one who does not, and the one who abstains must not pass judgment on the one who eats, for God has welcomed both. | Don’t let him who eats despise him who doesn’t eat. Don’t let him who doesn’t eat judge him who eats, for God has accepted him. |
| Remember this, my beloved brethren: everyone should be quick to listen but slow to speak and slow to anger. | So, then, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger. |
| O Lord, do not withhold your mercy from me; may your kindness and your truth keep me safe forever. | Don’t withhold your tender mercies from me, Yahweh. Let your loving kindness and your truth continually preserve me. |
