- Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord;
O Lord, hear my voice.
Let your ears be attentive
to my cries of supplication. - And God said, “Let us make man in our image and likeness, and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the wild animals and reptiles that crawl upon the earth.”
- So we must not fall asleep as the others do, but we must stay alert and sober.
- On the last and greatest day of the feast, Jesus stood up and cried out,
“If anyone is thirsty,
let him come to me and drink.” - This is the day that the Lord has made;
let us exult and rejoice in it. - Let no one regard you with contempt because of your youth, but serve as an example to the believers in your speech and conduct, in your love, your faith, and your purity.
- Let us remain firm in the confession of our hope without wavering, for the one who made the promise is trustworthy.
- Let no foul word ever pass your lips. Say only what is useful for edification, so that your words may benefit your listeners.
- Beloved,
let us love one another,
because love is from God.
Everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. - Teach me to do your will,
for you are my God.
Let your gracious Spirit lead me
along a level path. - At dawn let me experience your kindness,
for in you I place my trust.
Show me the path I must walk,
for to you I lift up my soul. - Everything that you do should be done in love.
- Let us then make every effort to enter into that rest, so that no one may fall by following that example of refusing to believe.
- Let us never grow weary in doing what is right, for if we do not give up, we will reap our harvest in due time.
- Let mutual love continue, and do not forget to offer hospitality to strangers, for by doing this some have entertained angels without knowing it.
- Let marriage be held in honor by all, and the marriage bed kept undefiled, for those who are immoral and adulterers will have to face God’s judgment.
- My son, concentrate attentively on my words;
pay heed to the instructions I pass on to you.
Do not let them slip from your mind;
keep them forever in your heart. - Restore us, O Lord of hosts;
let your face shine upon us,
and we will be saved. - Now let the fear of the Lord be upon you. Be careful in your judgments, for the Lord, our God, will not tolerate the perversion of justice, or partiality, or the taking of bribes.
- Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence so that we may receive mercy and find grace when we are in need of help.
- Let no one delude himself. If anyone among you considers himself to be wise by worldly standards, he must become a fool in order to be truly wise.
- Let the words of my mouth and the thoughts of my heart
find favor in your sight,
O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer. - Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that weighs us down and the sins that so easily distract us and with perseverance run the race that lies ahead of us.
- Let the word of Christ with all its richness dwell in you. Teach and admonish one another in all wisdom, singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God with gratitude in your hearts.
- Do not let kindness and fidelity leave you;
fasten them around your neck
and inscribe them on the tablet of your heart.
Then you will gain favor and a good name
in the sight of God and man.
