For all of us make many mistakes. Anyone who makes no mistakes in speaking is perfect, able to keep the whole body in check with a bridle. | For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body. |
It is honorable to refrain from strife, but every fool is quick to quarrel. | It is an honour for a man to cease from strife: but every fool will be meddling. |

In the same way, husbands should love their wives as they do their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. | So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. |
Whoever is slow to anger has great understanding, but one who has a hasty temper exalts folly. | He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly. |
Be still before the Lord, and wait patiently for him; do not fret over those who prosper in their way, over those who carry out evil devices. | Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. |
The wealth of the rich is their strong city; in their imagination it is like a high wall. | The rich man's wealth is his strong city, and as an high wall in his own conceit. |
Like a city breached, without walls, is one who lacks self-control. | He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls. |
He has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God? | He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God? |
The wicked borrow, and do not pay back, but the righteous are generous and keep giving. | The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again: but the righteous sheweth mercy, and giveth. |
All day long the wicked covet, but the righteous give and do not hold back. | He coveteth greedily all the day long: but the righteous giveth and spareth not. |
With the loyal you show yourself loyal; with the blameless you show yourself blameless. | With the merciful thou wilt shew thyself merciful; with an upright man thou wilt shew thyself upright. |
They shall be mine, says the Lord of hosts, my special possession on the day when I act, and I will spare them as parents spare their children who serve them. | And they shall be mine, saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him. |
Some friends play at friendship but a true friend sticks closer than one's nearest kin. | A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother. |
Each of you, however, should love his wife as himself, and a wife should respect her husband. | Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband. |

Anxiety weighs down the human heart, but a good word cheers it up. | Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad. |
With their mouths the godless would destroy their neighbors, but by knowledge the righteous are delivered. | An hypocrite with his mouth destroyeth his neighbour: but through knowledge shall the just be delivered. |
Because no prophecy ever came by human will, but men and women moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God. | For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. |
All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that everyone who belongs to God may be proficient, equipped for every good work. | All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. |
