Chinese (traditional)- God is not a human being, that he should lie,
or a mortal, that he should change his mind.
Has he promised, and will he not do it?
Has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it? - See, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn him to death; then they will hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified; and on the third day he will be raised.
- Let it be known to you therefore, my brothers, that through this man forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you; by this Jesus everyone who believes is set free from all those sins from which you could not be freed by the law of Moses.
- He answered, “Have you not read that the one who made them at the beginning ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”
- The fear of others lays a snare,
but one who trusts in the Lord is secure. - This poor soul cried, and was heard by the Lord,
and was saved from every trouble. - I, I am he who comforts you;
why then are you afraid of a mere mortal who must die,
a human being who fades like grass? - With the Lord on my side I do not fear.
What can mortals do to me? - What is desirable in a person is loyalty,
and it is better to be poor than a liar. - How can young people keep their way pure?
By guarding it according to your word. - Then the Lord God said, “See, the man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil; and now, he might reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life, and eat, and live forever”— therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from which he was taken.
- O taste and see that the Lord is good;
happy are those who take refuge in him. - Know then in your heart that as a parent disciplines a child so the Lord your God disciplines you.
- One sabbath he was going through the grainfields; and as they made their way his disciples began to pluck heads of grain. The Pharisees said to him, “Look, why are they doing what is not lawful on the sabbath?” And he said to them, “Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry and in need of food? He entered the house of God, when Abiathar was high priest, and ate the bread of the Presence, which it is not lawful for any but the priests to eat, and he gave some to his companions.” Then he said to them, “The sabbath was made for humankind, and not humankind for the sabbath; so the Son of Man is lord even of the sabbath.”
- But he answered, “It is written,
‘One does not live by bread alone,
but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’ ” - Just as water reflects the face,
so one human heart reflects another. - Happy are those who find wisdom,
and those who get understanding. - Iron sharpens iron,
and one person sharpens the wits of another. - He humbled you by letting you hunger, then by feeding you with manna, with which neither you nor your ancestors were acquainted, in order to make you understand that one does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.
- For what will it profit them if they gain the whole world but forfeit their life? Or what will they give in return for their life?
- So we can say with confidence,
“The Lord is my helper;
I will not be afraid.
What can anyone do to me?” - A perverse person spreads strife,
and a whisperer separates close friends. - The good person out of the good treasure of the heart produces good, and the evil person out of evil treasure produces evil; for it is out of the abundance of the heart that the mouth speaks.
- A fool gives full vent to anger,
but the wise quietly holds it back. - Our steps are made firm by the Lord,
when he delights in our way.
For what will it profit them to gain the whole world and forfeit their life?Be still, and know that I am God!
I am exalted among the nations,
I am exalted in the earth. The Lord, your God, is in your midst,
a warrior who gives victory;
he will rejoice over you with gladness,
he will renew you in his love;
he will exult over you with loud singing.Next verse!With image
