- In this way, I will show my greatness and holiness, and I will make myself known to all the nations of the world. Then they will know that I am the Lord.
- I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified.
- I say to myself, “The Lord is my inheritance;
therefore, I will hope in him!” - Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them. And I will love them and reveal myself to each of them.
- All that time I had eaten no rich food. No meat or wine crossed my lips, and I used no fragrant lotions until those three weeks had passed.
- I will walk in freedom,
for I have devoted myself to your commandments. - Let me hear of your unfailing love each morning,
for I am trusting you.
Show me where to walk,
for I give myself to you. - But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.
- I didn’t know he was the one, but when God sent me to baptize with water, he told me, ‘The one on whom you see the Spirit descend and rest is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’
- Finally, I confessed all my sins to you
and stopped trying to hide my guilt.
I said to myself, “I will confess my rebellion to the Lord.”
And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone. - Those who are victorious will sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat with my Father on his throne.
- And I know it is important to love him with all my heart and all my understanding and all my strength, and to love my neighbor as myself. This is more important than to offer all of the burnt offerings and sacrifices required in the law.
- My child, if your heart is wise,
my own heart will rejoice! - In peace I will lie down and sleep,
for you alone, O Lord, will keep me safe. - I have revealed you to them, and I will continue to do so. Then your love for me will be in them, and I will be in them.
- You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is good for you. And even though “I am allowed to do anything,” I must not become a slave to anything.
- The Lord says,
“I was ready to respond, but no one asked for help.
I was ready to be found, but no one was looking for me.
I said, ‘Here I am, here I am!’
to a nation that did not call on my name.”
But the angel reassured them. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people.”
