| For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh. | Although we are human beings, we do not engage in battle according to human standards. |

| Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. | In the same way, faith by itself is dead if it does not have works. |
| Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. | See what love the Father has bestowed on us, enabling us to be called the children of God, and that is what we are. If the world does not recognize us, that is because it did not know him. |
| I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. | I am not asking you to take them out of the world, but I do ask you to protect them from the evil one. |
