| If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. | If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. |

| Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. | Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. |

| “Are you so dull?” he asked. “Don’t you see that nothing that enters a person from the outside can defile them? When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it. |
| The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” | For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” |
| Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God. | Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. |
