O how abundant is your goodness that you have laid up for those who fear you, and accomplished for those who take refuge in you, in the sight of everyone! How great is the goodness you have stored up for those who fear you. You lavish it on those who come to you for protection, blessing them before the watching world.
Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly; do not claim to be wiser than you are.Live in harmony with each other. Don’t be too proud to enjoy the company of ordinary people. And don’t think you know it all!
But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for the Lord does not see as mortals see; they look on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”But the Lord said to Samuel, “Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. As God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.
Be still before the Lord, and wait patiently for him; do not fret over those who prosper in their way, over those who carry out evil devices.Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes.
My soul yearns for you in the night, my spirit within me earnestly seeks you. For when your judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness. In the night I search for you; in the morning I earnestly seek you. For only when you come to judge the earth will people learn what is right.
For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, and in their eagerness to be rich some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pains. For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil.
