Seeth (4/4)

  • Can a woman forget her nursing child,
    or show no compassion for the child of her womb?
    Even these may forget,
    yet I will not forget you.
    See, I have inscribed you on the palms of my hands;
    your walls are continually before me.
  • In you, O Lord, I seek refuge;
    do not let me ever be put to shame;
    in your righteousness deliver me.
  • This is what I have seen to be good: it is fitting to eat and drink and find enjoyment in all the toil with which one toils under the sun the few days of the life God gives us; for this is our lot.
  • Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in my house, and thus put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts; see if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you an overflowing blessing.
  • He said to them, “Then do you also fail to understand? Do you not see that whatever goes into a person from outside cannot defile,
    since it enters, not the heart but the stomach, and goes out into the sewer?” (Thus he declared all foods clean.)
  • Beloved, we are God's children now; what we will be has not yet been revealed. What we do know is this: when he is revealed, we will be like him, for we will see him as he is. And all who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.
  • And those who know your name put their trust in you,
    for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you.
  • He said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.”
  • No one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.
  • Turn back, and say to Hezekiah prince of my people, Thus says the Lord, the God of your ancestor David: I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; indeed, I will heal you; on the third day you shall go up to the house of the Lord.
  • Seek good and not evil,
    that you may live;
    and so the Lord, the God of hosts, will be with you,
    just as you have said.
  • See, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn him to death; then they will hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified; and on the third day he will be raised.
  • Then the Lord God said, “See, the man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil; and now, he might reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life, and eat, and live forever”— therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from which he was taken.
  • From there you will seek the Lord your God, and you will find him if you search after him with all your heart and soul.
  • O God, you are my God, I seek you,
    my soul thirsts for you;
    my flesh faints for you,
    as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
  • The Lord is with you, while you are with him. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you abandon him, he will abandon you.
  • And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying,
    “See, the home of God is among mortals.
    He will dwell with them as their God;
    they will be his peoples,
    and God himself will be with them;
    he will wipe every tear from their eyes.
    Death will be no more;
    mourning and crying and pain will be no more,
    for the first things have passed away.”
  • And without faith it is impossible to please God, for whoever would approach him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
  • I was ready to be sought out by those who did not ask,
    to be found by those who did not seek me.
    I said, “Here I am, here I am,”
    to a nation that did not call on my name.
  • One thing I asked of the Lord,
    that will I seek after:
    to live in the house of the Lord
    all the days of my life,
    to behold the beauty of the Lord,
    and to inquire in his temple.
  • If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, pray, seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
  • Because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen. For this reason God gave them up to degrading passions. Their women exchanged natural intercourse for unnatural, and in the same way also the men, giving up natural intercourse with women, were consumed with passion for one another. Men committed shameless acts with men and received in their own persons the due penalty for their error. And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind and to things that should not be done.
