- But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face; That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.

- Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning;
for in thee do I trust:
cause me to know the way wherein I should walk;
for I lift up my soul unto thee. - For they got not the land in possession by their own sword,
neither did their own arm save them:
but thy right hand, and thine arm,
and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favour unto them. - Thus speaketh the Lord of hosts, saying, Execute true judgment, and shew mercy and compassions every man to his brother: And oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the stranger, nor the poor; and let none of you imagine evil against his brother in your heart.
- It is he that buildeth his stories in the heaven,
and hath founded his troop in the earth;
he that calleth for the waters of the sea,
and poureth them out upon the face of the earth:
The Lord is his name. - Let brotherly love continue. Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.
- Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
- For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
- Thus will I magnify myself, and sanctify myself; and I will be known in the eyes of many nations, and they shall know that I am the Lord.
- Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O Lord:
let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me. - And therefore will the Lord wait,
that he may be gracious unto you,
and therefore will he be exalted,
that he may have mercy upon you:
for the Lord is a God of judgment:
blessed are all they that wait for him. - Teach me to do thy will;
for thou art my God:
thy spirit is good;
lead me into the land of uprightness. - Teach me thy way, O Lord;
I will walk in thy truth:
unite my heart to fear thy name. - Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation:
and thy right hand hath holden me up,
and thy gentleness hath made me great.
Thou hast enlarged my steps under me,
that my feet did not slip. - Be ye not as your fathers, unto whom the former prophets have cried, saying, Thus saith the Lord of hosts; Turn ye now from your evil ways, and from your evil doings: but they did not hear, nor hearken unto me, saith the Lord.
- My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God:
when shall I come and appear before God? - Remove far from me vanity and lies:
give me neither poverty nor riches;
feed me with food convenient for me. - Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.
- Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.
- And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.
- Yea, in the way of thy judgments,
O Lord, have we waited for thee;
the desire of our soul is to thy name,
and to the remembrance of thee. - For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,
saith the Lord. - Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.

turn ye even to me with all your heart,
and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning. - In thee, O Lord, do I put my trust;
let me never be ashamed:
deliver me in thy righteousness. - And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
- But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
- Lead me in thy truth, and teach me:
for thou art the God of my salvation;
on thee do I wait all the day. - For thou art my rock and my fortress;
therefore for thy name's sake lead me, and guide me.
But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
