- But when they saw him walking upon the sea, they supposed it had been a spirit, and cried out: For they all saw him, and were troubled. And immediately he talked with them, and saith unto them, Be of good cheer: it is I; be not afraid.
- Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
- Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted: But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.
- So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
- But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost.
- Honour widows that are widows indeed.
- Thou shalt not hate thy brother in thine heart: thou shalt in any wise rebuke thy neighbour, and not suffer sin upon him. Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the Lord.
- Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
- Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another.
- Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.
- Ye shall not afflict any widow, or fatherless child. If thou afflict them in any wise, and they cry at all unto me, I will surely hear their cry; And my wrath shall wax hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.
- Blessed is the man
that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly,
nor standeth in the way of sinners,
nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. - I delight to do thy will, O my God:
yea, thy law is within my heart. - Wash you, make you clean;
put away the evil of your doings
from before mine eyes;
cease to do evil. - The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty;
he will save,
he will rejoice over thee with joy;
he will rest in his love,
he will joy over thee with singing. - A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself;
but the simple pass on, and are punished. - Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings;
and the years of thy life shall be many. - So we fasted and besought our God for this: and he was intreated of us.
- Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
- Cast thy burden upon the Lord,
and he shall sustain thee:
he shall never suffer
the righteous to be moved. - And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
- Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
- Learn to do well; seek judgment,
relieve the oppressed,
judge the fatherless,
plead for the widow. - Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.
- Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.
Ye shall diligently keep the commandments of the Lord your God, and his testimonies, and his statutes, which he hath commanded thee.Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
