- God sets the lonely in families,
he leads out the prisoners with singing;
but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land. - For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
- Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves,
for the rights of all who are destitute. - Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
- Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
- And a highway will be there;
it will be called the Way of Holiness;
it will be for those who walk on that Way.
The unclean will not journey on it;
wicked fools will not go about on it. - Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, left the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, where for forty days he was tempted by the devil. He ate nothing during those days, and at the end of them he was hungry.
- Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
- For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous
and his ears are attentive to their prayer,
but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil. - Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.
- To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
- Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness.
- The Lord will rescue his servants;
no one who takes refuge in him will be condemned. - For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.
- If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!
- However, as it is written:
“What no eye has seen,
what no ear has heard,
and what no human mind has conceived”—
the things God has prepared for those who love him. - And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
- Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.
- No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light.
- Good will come to those who are generous and lend freely,
who conduct their affairs with justice. - Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

- As goods increase,
so do those who consume them.
And what benefit are they to the owners
except to feast their eyes on them?
For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels?
