Chinese (traditional)- I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord;
I have no good apart from you.” - Truly, you bless the righteous, O Lord;
you surround them with your goodwill as with a shield. - Put your trust in the Lord and do good,
that you may dwell in the land and be secure. - The body is one, although it has many parts; and all the parts, though many, form one body. So it is with Christ.
- It is better to spend one day in your courts
than a thousand elsewhere.
I would rather be a doorkeeper in God’s house
than dwell inside the tents of the wicked. - Although it was our afflictions that he bore,
our sufferings that he endured,
we thought of him as stricken,
as struck down by God and afflicted. - Let the wicked abandon their ways
and those who are evil their thoughts.
Let them return to the Lord
so that he may have mercy upon them;
and to our God,
for he is rich in forgiveness. - Jesus replied, “If you wish to be perfect, go, sell your possessions, and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
- To the loyal, you show yourself to be loyal;
to the blameless, you show yourself to be blameless. - You shall keep these things that I command you today in your heart. Teach them to your children. You shall talk of them when you are sitting in your home, and when you are walking along the way, and when you lie down and when you rise up.
- Why are you so disheartened, O my soul?
Why do you sigh within me?
Place your hope in God;
for I will once again praise him,
my Savior and my God. - I am not asking you
to take them out of the world,
but I do ask you
to protect them from the evil one. - Jesus replied, “Did I not tell you that if you have faith you will see the glory of God?”
- Yet, O Lord, you are our Father;
we are the clay and you are our potter;
all of us are the work of your hands. - Therefore, we do not lose heart. Even though our outer self is continuing to decay, our inner self is being renewed day by day.
- Jesus then said to her,
“I am the resurrection and the life.
Whoever believes in me,
even though he dies, will live,
and everyone who lives
and believes in me
will never die.
Do you believe this?” - Father, allow those you have given me
to be with me where I am,
so that they may behold my glory,
which you have bestowed on me
because you loved me
before the foundation of the world. - Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them. They will be priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him for a thousand years.
- The seed sown among thorns is the one who hears the word, but worldly cares and the lure of riches choke the word and it bears no fruit.
- Then Jesus said to him,
“You have come to believe
because you have seen me.
Blessed are those who have not seen
and yet have come to believe.” - As for you, teach what is consistent with sound doctrine.
- But when you pray, go into your room, close the door, and pray to your Father in secret. And your Father who sees everything that is done in secret will reward you.
- His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. Since you have been faithful in small matters, I will give you much greater responsibilities. Come and share your master’s joy.’
- When you make a vow to God, do not delay in fulfilling it, for God has no pleasure in fools. Fulfill the vow you have made.
- Do not let this book of the law be absent from your mouth; meditate upon it day and night, so that you might carefully observe everything that is written in it. Then you will prosper and be successful.
How great is your goodness, O Lord,
which you have stored up for those who fear you
and which you bestow on those who take refuge in you,
in the presence of all the people.A wise son brings joy to his father,
but a foolish son gives grief to his mother.
