- The heart is devious above all else;
it is perverse—
who can understand it?
I the Lord test the mind
and search the heart,
to give to all according to their ways,
according to the fruit of their doings. - I did not shrink from doing anything helpful, proclaiming the message to you and teaching you publicly and from house to house.
- To set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.
- Then when you call upon me and come and pray to me, I will hear you.
- From that time Jesus began to proclaim, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”
- So teach us to count our days
that we may gain a wise heart. - We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.
- But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.”
- Then what if you were to see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before?
- Fine speech is not becoming to a fool;
still less is false speech to a ruler. - When God raised up his servant, he sent him first to you, to bless you by turning each of you from your wicked ways.
- Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord.
Lord, hear my voice!
Let your ears be attentive
to the voice of my supplications! - Come to a sober and right mind, and sin no more; for some people have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame.
- “Ananias,” Peter asked, “why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back part of the proceeds of the land? While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, were not the proceeds at your disposal? How is it that you have contrived this deed in your heart? You did not lie to us but to God!”
- Therefore take up the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to withstand on that evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.
- Then he said to them all, “If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.”
- For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving,
abounding in steadfast love to all who call on you. - Therefore the Lord waits to be gracious to you;
therefore he will rise up to show mercy to you.
For the Lord is a God of justice;
blessed are all those who wait for him. - And we are witnesses to these things, and so is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey him.
- Let us test and examine our ways,
and return to the Lord. - But the one who endures to the end will be saved.
- But I say to you that listen, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you.
- The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.
- For he has graciously granted you the privilege not only of believing in Christ, but of suffering for him as well.
- No longer present your members to sin as instruments of wickedness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and present your members to God as instruments of righteousness.
