The Lord is with you when you are with him. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will forsake you. | Yahweh is with you while you are with him; and if you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will forsake you. |
I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. | I will not leave you orphans. I will come to you. |
|
If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. | If you remain in me, and my words remain in you, you will ask whatever you desire, and it will be done for you. |
So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. | I tell you, keep asking, and it will be given you. Keep seeking, and you will find. Keep knocking, and it will be opened to you. |
I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish. | I tell you, no, but unless you repent, you will all perish in the same way. |
Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. | Blessed are you when people reproach you, persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely, for my sake. |
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you. | I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go. I will counsel you with my eye on you. |
You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God. | You lust, and don’t have. You murder and covet, and can’t obtain. You fight and make war. You don’t have, because you don’t ask. |
But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. | But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you. |
But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. | But I tell you who hear: love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, and pray for those who mistreat you. |
Blessed are you when people hate you, when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man. | Blessed are you when men hate you, and when they exclude and mock you, and throw out your name as evil, for the Son of Man’s sake. |
A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. | A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also love one another. |
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. | Ask, and it will be given you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and it will be opened for you. |
So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. | If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed. |
You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. | You didn’t choose me, but I chose you and appointed you, that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain; that whatever you will ask of the Father in my name, he may give it to you. |
The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace. | Yahweh bless you, and keep you. Yahweh make his face to shine on you, and be gracious to you. Yahweh lift up his face toward you, and give you peace. |
If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. | If the world hates you, you know that it has hated me before it hated you. |
As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him. | As for you, the anointing which you received from him remains in you, and you don’t need for anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is no lie, and even as it taught you, you will remain in him. |
Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. | Now I declare to you, brothers, the Good News which I preached to you, which also you received, in which you also stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold firmly the word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. |
When God raised up his servant, he sent him first to you to bless you by turning each of you from your wicked ways. | God, having raised up his servant Jesus, sent him to you first to bless you, in turning away every one of you from your wickedness. |
The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still. | Yahweh will fight for you, and you shall be still. |
Repent at my rebuke! Then I will pour out my thoughts to you, I will make known to you my teachings. | Turn at my reproof. Behold, I will pour out my spirit on you. I will make known my words to you. |
Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good? | Now who will harm you if you become imitators of that which is good? |
As for you, see that what you have heard from the beginning remains in you. If it does, you also will remain in the Son and in the Father. | Therefore, as for you, let that remain in you which you heard from the beginning. If that which you heard from the beginning remains in you, you also will remain in the Son, and in the Father. |
You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. | You are already pruned clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. |
