Burdens be lifted up (2/4)

  • A cheerful heart is a good medicine,
but a downcast spirit dries up the bones.
  • So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God.
  • When God raised up his servant, he sent him first to you, to bless you by turning each of you from your wicked ways.

he is a shield to those who walk blamelessly.
  • Therefore encourage one another and build up each other, as indeed you are doing.
  • Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal; but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes and where thieves do not break in and steal.
  • For thus says the high and lofty one
who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy:

and also with those who are contrite and humble in spirit,
to revive the spirit of the humble,
and to revive the heart of the contrite.
  • And taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven, and blessed and broke them, and gave them to the disciples to set before the crowd. And all ate and were filled. What was left over was gathered up, twelve baskets of broken pieces.

  • He called the crowd with his disciples, and said to them, “If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.”
  • But speaking the truth in love, we must grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ.
  • So let us not grow weary in doing what is right, for we will reap at harvest time, if we do not give up.
  • But those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength,
they shall mount up with wings like eagles,
they shall run and not be weary,
they shall walk and not faint.
  • While he was going and they were gazing up toward heaven, suddenly two men in white robes stood by them. They said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking up toward heaven? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.”
  • And whoever does not take up the cross and follow me is not worthy of me.
  • But you, O Lord, are a shield around me,
my glory, and the one who lifts up my head.
  • It is you who light my lamp;
the Lord, my God, lights up my darkness.
