In him (2/4)

  • God abides in those who confess that Jesus is the Son of God, and they abide in God.
  • And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding so that we may know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.
  • As for you, the anointing that you received from him abides in you, and so you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, abide in him.
  • But for that very reason I received mercy, so that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display the utmost patience, making me an example to those who would come to believe in him for eternal life.
  • Although you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and rejoice with an indescribable and glorious joy, for you are receiving the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
  • Do not love the world or the things in the world. The love of the Father is not in those who love the world.
  • Beloved, we are God's children now; what we will be has not yet been revealed. What we do know is this: when he is revealed, we will be like him, for we will see him as he is. And all who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.
  • You are from your father the devil, and you choose to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks according to his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
  • I am the vine, you are the branches. Those who abide in me and I in them bear much fruit, because apart from me you can do nothing.
  • So we have known and believe the love that God has for us.
God is love, and those who abide in love abide in God, and God abides in them.
  • For he has graciously granted you the privilege not only of believing in Christ, but of suffering for him as well.
  • How does God's love abide in anyone who has the world's goods and sees a brother or sister in need and yet refuses help?
  • Then Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in him, “If you continue in my word, you are truly my disciples; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”
  • Look at the proud!
Their spirit is not right in them,
but the righteous live by their faith.
  • For God alone my soul waits in silence,
for my hope is from him.
  • But those who drink of the water that I will give them will never be thirsty. The water that I will give will become in them a spring of water gushing up to eternal life.
  • For what human being knows what is truly human except the human spirit that is within? So also no one comprehends what is truly God's except the Spirit of God.
  • For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be the glory forever. Amen.
  • The Lord is near to all who call on him,
to all who call on him in truth.
  • I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
  • And let the one who believes in me drink. As the scripture has said, ‘Out of the believer's heart shall flow rivers of living water.’
  • For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have died.
  • Our steps are made firm by the Lord,
when he delights in our way.
  • They stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him, and after twisting some thorns into a crown, they put it on his head. They put a reed in his right hand and knelt before him and mocked him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!”
  • The saying is sure:
If we have died with him, we will also live with him.

The Lord is with you, while you are with him. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you abandon him, he will abandon you.
