Long for you (3/4)

  • But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its rays. And you will go out and frolic like well-fed calves.
  • If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.
  • Do not make any gods to be alongside me; do not make for yourselves gods of silver or gods of gold.
  • Of all the creatures living in the water, you may eat any that has fins and scales. But anything that does not have fins and scales you may not eat; for you it is unclean.
  • Since you are my rock and my fortress,
    for the sake of your name lead and guide me.
  • My soul yearns for you in the night;
    in the morning my spirit longs for you.
    When your judgments come upon the earth,
    the people of the world learn righteousness.
  • Do not say, “Why were the old days better than these?”
    For it is not wise to ask such questions.
  • But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.
  • But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
  • “And with you, Lord, is unfailing love”;
    and, “You reward everyone
    according to what they have done.”
  • He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
  • You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.
  • Because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.
  • It was not by their sword that they won the land,
    nor did their arm bring them victory;
    it was your right hand, your arm,
    and the light of your face, for you loved them.
  • The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.”
  • But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus.”
  • For you created my inmost being;
    you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
    I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
    your works are wonderful,
    I know that full well.
  • For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.
  • This is what the Lord says:
    “Stand at the crossroads and look;
    ask for the ancient paths,
    ask where the good way is, and walk in it,
    and you will find rest for your souls.
    But you said, ‘We will not walk in it.’”
  • For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.
  • As for you, see that what you have heard from the beginning remains in you. If it does, you also will remain in the Son and in the Father.
  • You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.
  • You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.
  • And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God ask of you but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to observe the Lord’s commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good?
  • As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him.

All my longings lie open before you, Lord;
my sighing is not hidden from you.
