- Speak out and pronounce righteous judgments;
defend the rights of the wretched and the poor. - Jesus answered them, “Amen, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only will you do what has been done to this fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ it will be accomplished.”
- Fine words are not becoming to a fool,
and much less are false words to a noble. - For one believes in the heart and so is justified, and one confesses with the mouth and so is saved.
- Blessings are showered on the head of the righteous,
but sorrow will cover the face of the wicked. - The tongue of the just man is like pure silver;
the heart of the wicked is without worth. - I will bless the Lord at all times;
his praise will be continually on my lips. - Lying lips conceal hatred,
and anyone who slanders another is a fool. - If your brother should sin, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him. Even if he wrongs you seven times a day, and comes back to you seven times to say, ‘I am sorry,’ you must forgive him.
- Above all, my brethren, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth, or use any oaths at all. Let your “Yes” mean “Yes” and your “No” mean “No.” Otherwise you may be condemned.
- I have not strayed from the commandments of his lips;
I have treasured in my heart the words of his mouth. - In my anguish I cried out to the Lord
and called to my God for help.
From his temple he heard my voice,
and my cry to him reached his ears. - God said, “Let there be light!” And there was light.
- No prophecy ever came from human initiative. Rather, when people spoke as messengers of God, they did so under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
- You might say to yourself, “How can we know that the Lord did not speak the message?” If what the prophet proclaims in the name of the Lord is not true and it does not happen, then the message was not proclaimed by the Lord. The prophet has spoken presumptuously, you should not fear him.
- The Lord abhors lying lips,
but he delights in those who are truthful. - I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?’
- And you will say on that day:
Give thanks to the Lord,
invoke his name;
make known his deeds among the nations;
proclaim that his name is exalted. - Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire, which separated and came to rest on each one of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in different languages, as the Spirit enabled them to do so.
- I will offer praise to you, O Lord,
with my whole heart;
I will recount all your wondrous deeds. - When they had finished their prayer, the place where they were gathered together shook, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and proclaimed the word of God fearlessly.
- You have already been cleansed
by the word I have spoken to you. - The whispers of a gossiper are tasty morsels
that corrode one’s inner being. - I then heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? Who will go for us?” I said, “Here I am. Send me!”
- But what I tell you is this: Do not swear at all, either by heaven, since it is God’s throne, or by earth, since that is his footstool, or by Jerusalem, since that is the city of the great King.
