Chinese (traditional)Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land. Don’t team up with those who are unbelievers. How can righteousness be a partner with wickedness? How can light live with darkness? Better to have little, with fear for the Lord,
than to have great treasure and inner turmoil. Taste and see that the Lord is good.
Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him! Then he asked them, “But who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins. For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. For the commandments say, “You must not commit adultery. You must not murder. You must not steal. You must not covet.” These—and other such commandments—are summed up in this one commandment: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” And if you do good only to those who do good to you, why should you get credit? Even sinners do that much! In the night I search for you;
in the morning I earnestly seek you.
For only when you come to judge the earth
will people learn what is right. The Lord is more pleased when we do what is right and just
than when we offer him sacrifices. Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord. Search for the Lord and for his strength;
continually seek him. That’s why those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God. The end of the world is coming soon. Therefore, be earnest and disciplined in your prayers. See that no one pays back evil for evil, but always try to do good to each other and to all people. Yes, he humbled you by letting you go hungry and then feeding you with manna, a food previously unknown to you and your ancestors. He did it to teach you that people do not live by bread alone; rather, we live by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord. For the Lord gave us this command when he said,
‘I have made you a light to the Gentiles,
to bring salvation to the farthest corners of the earth.’ Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. As the deer longs for streams of water,
so I long for you, O God. “Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test!” People may be right in their own eyes,
but the Lord examines their heart. Lord, we show our trust in you by obeying your laws;
our heart’s desire is to glorify your name. Be still in the presence of the Lord,
and wait patiently for him to act.
Don’t worry about evil people who prosper
or fret about their wicked schemes. Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you your heart’s desires. I am overwhelmed with joy in the Lord my God!
For he has dressed me with the clothing of salvation
and draped me in a robe of righteousness.
I am like a bridegroom dressed for his wedding
or a bride with her jewels. And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength. A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart. Let there be no sexual immorality, impurity, or greed among you. Such sins have no place among God’s people. And now, dear children, remain in fellowship with Christ so that when he returns, you will be full of courage and not shrink back from him in shame. Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else? And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.Next verse!With image
