Chinese (traditional)This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins. God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right,
for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs. Jesus responded, “Didn’t I tell you that you would see God’s glory if you believe?” O Sovereign Lord! You made the heavens and earth by your strong hand and powerful arm. Nothing is too hard for you! For the Lord grants wisdom!
From his mouth come knowledge and understanding. Arise, Jerusalem! Let your light shine for all to see.
For the glory of the Lord rises to shine on you. “Don’t be afraid, Mary,” the angel told her, “for you have found favor with God! You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus.” When the Gentiles sin, they will be destroyed, even though they never had God’s written law. And the Jews, who do have God’s law, will be judged by that law when they fail to obey it. They did not conquer the land with their swords;
it was not their own strong arm that gave them victory.
It was your right hand and strong arm
and the blinding light from your face that helped them,
for you loved them. This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, “It is through faith that a righteous person has life.” For the whole law can be summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace. Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love. We can make our plans,
but the Lord determines our steps. Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. I lift my hands to you in prayer.
I thirst for you as parched land thirsts for rain. You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For I decided that while I was with you I would forget everything except Jesus Christ, the one who was crucified. The Lord is close to all who call on him,
yes, to all who call on him in truth. How great you are, O Sovereign Lord! There is no one like you. We have never even heard of another God like you! All who declare that Jesus is the Son of God have God living in them, and they live in God. Jesus replied, “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.” Even strong young lions sometimes go hungry,
but those who trust in the Lord will lack no good thing. Dear children, keep away from anything that might take God’s place in your hearts. Oh, the joys of those who do not
follow the advice of the wicked,
or stand around with sinners,
or join in with mockers. But when you are arrested and stand trial, don’t worry in advance about what to say. Just say what God tells you at that time, for it is not you who will be speaking, but the Holy Spirit. So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image. Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last;
but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised. God blesses those who work for peace,
for they will be called the children of God. Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else?
