Chinese (traditional)And then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea. They sang:
“Blessing and honor and glory and power
belong to the one sitting on the throne
and to the Lamb forever and ever.” But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy.
For the Scriptures say, “You must be holy because I am holy.” Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor. He sat down, called the twelve disciples over to him, and said, “Whoever wants to be first must take last place and be the servant of everyone else.” In my distress I prayed to the Lord,
and the Lord answered me and set me free. No one has ever seen God. But the unique One, who is himself God, is near to the Father’s heart. He has revealed God to us. But everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. Brothers, listen! We are here to proclaim that through this man Jesus there is forgiveness for your sins. Everyone who believes in him is made right in God’s sight—something the law of Moses could never do. For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! Turn us again to yourself, O Lord God of Heaven’s Armies.
Make your face shine down upon us.
Only then will we be saved. But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life. Yes, speak up for the poor and helpless,
and see that they get justice. So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son. Victory comes from you, O Lord.
May you bless your people. So be on your guard, not asleep like the others. Stay alert and be clearheaded. Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God.” Tainted wealth has no lasting value,
but right living can save your life. Since we have been united with him in his death, we will also be raised to life as he was. We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him the believers who have died. So we can say with confidence,
“The Lord is my helper,
so I will have no fear.
What can mere people do to me?” If we live, it’s to honor the Lord. And if we die, it’s to honor the Lord. So whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. Whom have I in heaven but you?
I desire you more than anything on earth. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light. So let’s stop condemning each other. Decide instead to live in such a way that you will not cause another believer to stumble and fall. Honor the Lord with your wealth
and with the best part of everything you produce. Who are you to condemn someone else’s servants? Their own master will judge whether they stand or fall. And with the Lord’s help, they will stand and receive his approval. They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, along with everyone in your household.” The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right;
his ears are open to their cries for help. Rather, you must grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
All glory to him, both now and forever! Amen. The righteous person faces many troubles,
but the Lord comes to the rescue each time. He is the one all the prophets testified about, saying that everyone who believes in him will have their sins forgiven through his name.
