Chinese (traditional)I thank and praise you, God of my ancestors:
You have given me wisdom and power,
you have made known to me what we asked of you,
you have made known to us the dream of the king. Those who guard their lips preserve their lives,
but those who speak rashly will come to ruin. After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight. Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. A wicked person earns deceptive wages,
but the one who sows righteousness reaps a sure reward. Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. Fools find no pleasure in understanding
but delight in airing their own opinions. Blessed are those whose ways are blameless,
who walk according to the law of the Lord. The tongue has the power of life and death,
and those who love it will eat its fruit. Jesus replied, “What is impossible with man is possible with God.” But let justice roll on like a river,
righteousness like a never-failing stream! But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. How can a young person stay on the path of purity?
By living according to your word. And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted. Who is a God like you,
who pardons sin and forgives the transgression
of the remnant of his inheritance?
You do not stay angry forever
but delight to show mercy. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled. Before a downfall the heart is haughty,
but humility comes before honor. Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls. But when they saw him walking on the lake, they thought he was a ghost. They cried out, because they all saw him and were terrified. Immediately he spoke to them and said, “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” But be very careful to keep the commandment and the law that Moses the servant of the Lord gave you: to love the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, to keep his commands, to hold fast to him and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul. “In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold. Truly my soul finds rest in God;
my salvation comes from him. If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him. Everyone comes naked from their mother’s womb,
and as everyone comes, so they depart.
They take nothing from their toil
that they can carry in their hands. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
his love endures forever. Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name;
make known among the nations what he has done. Who is he, this King of glory?
The Lord Almighty—
he is the King of glory.
