Chinese (traditional)In my distress I called out to the Lord;
he answered by setting me free. God saved us and called us to a life of holiness, not because of our works but according to his own purpose and the grace that has been bestowed upon us in Christ Jesus from all eternity. As Scripture asserts, “No one who believes in him will be put to shame.” Speak out and pronounce righteous judgments;
defend the rights of the wretched and the poor. Remember this, my beloved brethren: everyone should be quick to listen but slow to speak and slow to anger. He gave himself for us in order to deliver us from all iniquity and to purify for himself a people as his own who are eager to do good. Examine me, O God, and know my heart;
test me and understand my thoughts.
See if I follow an evil way,
and guide me on the way to eternity. In everything, deal with others as you would like them to deal with you. This is the Law and the Prophets. Dear children,
let us love not in word or speech
but in deed and truth. The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
and his ears are open to their cry. Because in my eyes you are precious,
because you are honored and I love you,
I will give people in exchange for you
and nations in return for your life. The one who calls you is faithful, and he will accomplish this. A fool spurns his father’s correction,
but whoever heeds admonition is prudent. You shall keep these things that I command you today in your heart. Teach them to your children. You shall talk of them when you are sitting in your home, and when you are walking along the way, and when you lie down and when you rise up. I am the gate.
Anyone who enters through me
will be saved.
He will go in and out
and will find pasture. When I am terrified,
I place my trust in you. Call to me and I will answer you and reveal to you great and mysterious secrets about which you are unaware. Stay awake and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit is indeed willing, but the flesh is weak. A perverse man sows strife,
and a tale-bearer destroys close friendships. Who then can separate us from the love of Christ? Will hardship, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or the sword? Nevertheless, do not rejoice in the knowledge that the spirits are subject to you. Rejoice rather that your names are inscribed in heaven. But I will sing of your strength;
when morning dawns, I will proclaim your kindness.
For you have been my fortress,
my refuge in times of trouble. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vanity, but humbly regard others as better than yourselves. May the Lord, our God, be with us, just as he was with our fathers; may he not leave us or abandon us. Treasures obtained by wicked means profit nothing,
but a righteous life brings delivery from death. In the same way, I tell you, there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who have no need of repentance. Let us never grow weary in doing what is right, for if we do not give up, we will reap our harvest in due time. The way of God is blameless;
the Lord’s promise has proved true.
He is a shield to all
who take refuge in him. Therefore, let us cease passing judgment on one another, but rather judge never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of a brother. But he is to ask with faith, without doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed about by the wind. Alleluia.
Blessed is the man who fears the Lord,
who greatly delights in his precepts. Do not be deceived; God cannot be mocked. A person will reap only what he sows. Is anyone among you sick? He should send for the presbyters of the Church so that they may pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. The prayer of faith will save the sick person, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed any sins, he will be forgiven.Next verse!With image
