Chinese (traditional)Come to your senses and sin no more. For some of you have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame. A fool gives free rein to his anger,
but a wise man bides his time and calms it. Make every effort to present yourself before God as one who is worthy of his approval, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, but who imparts the word of truth without any alteration. By faith Abraham also received the power of procreation, even though he was well past the age—and Sarah herself was barren—because he believed that the one who had made the promise would be faithful in fulfilling it. In my anguish I cried out to the Lord
and called to my God for help.
From his temple he heard my voice,
and my cry to him reached his ears. As for me, I do not regard my life as of any value, only that I finish the race and complete the mission that I received from the Lord Jesus—to bear witness to the gospel of God’s grace. Do the things that you have learned, received, and heard from me and that you saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you. A man’s attraction is his kindness;
it is far better to be poor than to be a liar. The seed sown among thorns is the one who hears the word, but worldly cares and the lure of riches choke the word and it bears no fruit. What god can compare with you,
the God who takes away guilt
and forgives the transgressions
of the remnant of your people?
You will not allow your anger to fester forever,
for your delight is in bestowing mercy. A gift opens doors for the giver
and wins him access to the powerful. Do not let anyone lead you astray. “Bad company corrupts good morals.” Beloved,
do not trust every spirit,
but test the spirits
to see whether they are from God.
For many false prophets
have gone out into the world. How can a young man lead a spotless life?
By living according to your word. Keep alert; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from acts that lead to death so that we may worship the living God. It is better to be a patient man rather than a warrior,
one who controls his temper rather than one who captures a city. In love there is no fear;
indeed, perfect love casts out fear,
because fear has to do with punishment,
and whoever fears
has not yet achieved perfection in love. Do you not realize that you are God’s temple, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? A word is not even on my tongue
and you, O Lord, are completely aware of it. He replied, “What is impossible for men is possible for God.” If you heed the voice of the Lord, your God, and you carefully observe all of the commandments that I have given you today, then the Lord, your God, will lift you up above all the other nations upon the earth. O Lord, let your kindness rest upon us,
for we have placed our hope in you. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for justice,
for they will have their fill. I want their hearts to be encouraged and united in love so that they may grow rich in their complete understanding as they come to the knowledge of the mystery of God, that is, Christ. This is the conclusion I have reached: it is fitting for a man to eat and drink and find satisfaction in the results of his labors under the sun during the brief span of life that God has allotted him. Although you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with a joy that is indescribable and glorious. For you are achieving the goal of your faith, that is, the salvation of your souls. And the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I wish to make another creature who will be like him.” Sing to God, sing praise to his name;
exalt him who rides upon the clouds.
Rejoice in the presence of this God
whose name is the Lord.
The Father of orphans and the defender of widows:
such is God in his holy dwelling place. When you pray do not go on babbling endlessly as the pagans do, for they believe that they are more likely to be heard because of their many words. And every day, both in the temple and at home, they never stopped teaching and proclaiming Jesus as the Christ. As far as the east is from the west,
so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
