These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves,
for the rights of all who are destitute. But be very careful to keep the commandment and the law that Moses the servant of the Lord gave you: to love the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, to keep his commands, to hold fast to him and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul. So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets. All my longings lie open before you, Lord;
my sighing is not hidden from you. Exalted to the right hand of God, he has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear. Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh. Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. It is better to take refuge in the Lord
than to trust in humans. May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it. Deceit is in the hearts of those who plot evil,
but those who promote peace have joy. But whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life. Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know. Teach me your way, Lord,
that I may rely on your faithfulness;
give me an undivided heart,
that I may fear your name. When he had led them out to the vicinity of Bethany, he lifted up his hands and blessed them. While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up into heaven. But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.” Direct my footsteps according to your word;
let no sin rule over me. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. We love because He first loved us. Our God is in heaven;
he does whatever pleases him. I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves. If either of them falls down,
one can help the other up.
But pity anyone who falls
and has no one to help them up. No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known. Lord, you are my God;
I will exalt you and praise your name,
for in perfect faithfulness
you have done wonderful things,
things planned long ago. When I kept silent,
my bones wasted away
through my groaning all day long. But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people. Who is he, this King of glory?
The Lord Almighty—
he is the King of glory. Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”Next verse!With image
