But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. To fear the Lord is to hate evil;
I hate pride and arrogance,
evil behavior and perverse speech. Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, “Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.” God is not human, that he should lie,
not a human being, that he should change his mind.
Does he speak and then not act?
Does he promise and not fulfill? I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart;
I will tell of all your wonderful deeds. I urge you, brothers and sisters, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them. So we say with confidence,
“The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.
What can mere mortals do to me?” Save me, Lord,
from lying lips
and from deceitful tongues. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another. So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober. Now all has been heard;
here is the conclusion of the matter:
Fear God and keep his commandments,
for this is the duty of all mankind. Worship the Lord your God, and his blessing will be on your food and water. I will take away sickness from among you. Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. The Lord is compassionate and gracious,
slow to anger, abounding in love. Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.” The tongue of the righteous is choice silver,
but the heart of the wicked is of little value. The Almighty is beyond our reach and exalted in power;
in his justice and great righteousness, he does not oppress. No one should seek their own good, but the good of others. The righteous person may have many troubles,
but the Lord delivers him from them all. Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. Fear of man will prove to be a snare,
but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe. Arise, shine, for your light has come,
and the glory of the Lord rises upon you. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. Be exalted, O God, above the heavens;
let your glory be over all the earth. The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.” For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe in him, but also to suffer for him. “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.” Help us, God our Savior,
for the glory of your name;
deliver us and forgive our sins
for your name’s sake. Truly he is my rock and my salvation;
he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.Next verse!With image
