Chinese (traditional)Glory to God in highest heaven,
and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased. All who declare that Jesus is the Son of God have God living in them, and they live in God. But those who won’t care for their relatives, especially those in their own household, have denied the true faith. Such people are worse than unbelievers. And may the Lord our God show us his approval
and make our efforts successful.
Yes, make our efforts successful! Give to everyone what you owe them: Pay your taxes and government fees to those who collect them, and give respect and honor to those who are in authority. But people who long to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction. The Sovereign Lord is my strength!
He makes me as surefooted as a deer,
able to tread upon the heights. For the word of God will never fail. But when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in private. Then your Father, who sees everything, will reward you. I love you, Lord;
you are my strength.
The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior;
my God is my rock, in whom I find protection.
He is my shield, the power that saves me,
and my place of safety. Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right,
and his ears are open to their prayers.
But the Lord turns his face
against those who do evil. You must diligently obey the commands of the Lord your God—all the laws and decrees he has given you. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake and for the sake of the Good News, you will save it. But the Lord watches over those who fear him,
those who rely on his unfailing love. For to me, living means living for Christ, and dying is even better. I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance. Don’t trap yourself by making a rash promise to God
and only later counting the cost. For the Scriptures say,
“‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord,
‘every knee will bend to me,
and every tongue will declare allegiance to God.’” That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. May the words of my mouth
and the meditation of my heart
be pleasing to you,
O Lord, my rock and my redeemer. For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. But be sure to fear the Lord and faithfully serve him. Think of all the wonderful things he has done for you. Godliness makes a nation great,
but sin is a disgrace to any people. Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave of sin.” The Lord directs the steps of the godly.
He delights in every detail of their lives. So just as sin ruled over all people and brought them to death, now God’s wonderful grace rules instead, giving us right standing with God and resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. And forgive us our sins,
as we have forgiven those who sin against us. Deceit fills hearts that are plotting evil;
joy fills hearts that are planning peace!
